Bryan and I found Coconut’s Fish Cafe using the Yelp Application for our iPhone’s. It had the most reviews on yelp for the area that we were checking out Day 11 in Maui.
Based on the number of positive reviews we decided to check out this cafe – who apparently has the #1 Tacos in the USA.
The cafe was smaller than what I envisioned it to be (based on the visitors).
The seating consisted of picnic tables (stylish picnic tables). You order your food at the counter (pay first) and than seat yourself. Since this was our first time visiting the cafe the cashier explained the menu and told us what the best option was (fish taco’s of course). So that is what we ordered.
What set’s coconut’s fish tacos and other food apart from other restaurants is that all their ingredients are fresh and made daily including sauces and you can taste the difference. All the dishes are made to order (and you don’t have to wait very long for your food).

Bryan and I were there for a birthday celebration – The Cafe turned 3 and Coconut the cat turned 12 (they named the restaurant after a cat)! TRUE STORY but the name works so who cares that it was named after a cat.
The fish taco’s were delicious and massive (house rules – you have to eat it with your hands) and it was messy!
Bryan was hungry and only wanted 1 Fish Taco – but you had to order 2! Well we weren’t going to waste 1 so we passed on getting more fish taco’s. (Lost Sale)
The food was a little pricey for a cafe – but some of the foods are imported which can drive prices up. We did however over hear the owner talking about franchising Coconut’s Fish Cafe and we inquired on the locations! CALIFORNIA – Awesome. I asked if there were going to be any in the San Diego area. YES there are going to be quite a few locations in San Diego in the next year. Bryan and I can’t wait to get our Fish Taco’s from Coconut’s back home.
Do they have the best fish tacos?
