What’s in this Season?
Bold colors and the classic maxi dress paired with a sexy wedge. Summer is all about colors – get rid of the dull winter colors and stand out in bright neons and coloring blocking outfits.
One of my favorite parts of the changing of seasons, from winter to that of spring and summer, besides the obvious warmer weather and the sun being much more present, is what comes with it. That my friends is a change in fashion.
Spring has to be the most exciting season for fashion. It’s a time of change, and of daring new possibilities in the fashion world. I always know spring’s coming when I go shopping and see the wonderful array of bright and vibrant colors, and that’s what excites me the most. After a long, dull and cold winter filled with dark hues and boring blacks, it’s nice to have a change to much more lively and dramatic colors. The colors of spring represent a promise of brighter days filled with renewed energy and optimism. Some of the beautiful colors I’ve been seeing that are making quite an appearance are tangerinenot only in clothing but also make up, such as lipstick and nail polishas well as dramatic navy, pastel greens and blues, vibrant yellows and soft lilacs and lavenders. It’s definitely an exciting year for colors. In addition to colors, patterns and prints such as florals and lace are also very popular for the spring and summer season.
As far as trends go, there’s the always-present classics such as the maxi dress, wedge heels, floral summer dresses and jean cut-offs, but this spring and summer season has also introduced to us a lot of high waisted shorts, pleats (especially in short and dresses), draped skirts, crop tops, bra tops and my favorite: chiffon blouses and tank tops in an array of beautiful shapes and colors.
The theme of spring and summer most years, and this year especially, is that of looser and freer clothing, which matches the feeling of being free and more liberal now that it’s summer time. The fabrics are light and breathable, and the trends often bare more skin, but in a more conservative way. While the bra tops and crop tops bare the midriff, high wasted shorts or maxi dresses paired with wedges help to elongate and show more leg without actually showing too much, which is definitely a nice thing for those who are more modest.
With all of these bold new colors and styles, it’s going to be a very fun and exciting summer in the fashion world. I encourage all of you to participate in the trends this summer, even if it only means buying something in a different color than you are used to. You never know what you may fall in love with. Try something new and have a little fun before it’s time to get back to the pants suits and cotton blouses of the fall.
My favorite trend is the maxi dress and wedges paired with a cute jean jacket! It’s a very southern California look and I absolutely love it. It’s great for the cool summer nights.
